THE STUDIO

From a New York waterfront studio, ceramicist Sunny designs ceramics and surfaces rooted in material rigor, place, and the visible hand.

Channel house

Channel House gets its name from it's unique location—a small, hidden island in New York City’s Jamaica Bay. A Bird Sanctuary with the Manhattan skyline hovering at its edge, the studio exists in a space where nature and city meet, shaping the rhythm, palette, and pace of the work.

Channel House Studio

process

Clay and surface designs are developed in parallel at Channel House, informed by water, minerals, light, and flora. The work is guided by the visible hand—painterly lines, softened edges, and controlled irregularity that bring warmth while remaining consistent and production-ready.

All clay is sourced locally and formed, glazed, and fired in our Broad Channel studio, with glazes developed in-house to ensure dinnerware food safety. Surface designs follow the same approach, beginning by hand before being refined and digitized for large-scale repeats.
